Old Zin Vines (OZV) – 2022 Lodi
Written April 2026
Found this little gem at NB liquors, next to the Costco in Teterboro. Have always loved the zinfandels of Lodi.
As of this writing, https://oakridgewinery.com/ lists it at $15, but NB sells it for $13 and change. I would pay as much as $23 for this bottle.
Keep in mind that this price point makes this a weekend wine or pizza night wine, where as something like Ridge Lytton springs Zin is maybe a once per month or perhaps once per quarter wine, certainly a Thanks giving wine.
The back label describes it well, but here are my tasting notes.
Color:
Young deep red with purple on the edges. Pronounced legs.
Nose:
Alcohol – and why not it is 14.5 % but raisins and brightness
Taste:
Long finish, light tannins great balance, cassis and berries.
When these notes were taken, we had it with Bolognese, but the image shows Manchego which worked as well.
